Sixteen current and former Nevada Wolf Pack student-athletes applied for graduation at the University of Nevada, Reno this winter.

The Wolf Pack athletics department, which has posted back-to-back record scores of 85 percent in the NCAA’s annual Graduation Success Rate report, has seen more than 1,150 student-athletes graduate over the past dozen years.

In addition to the student-athletes, six members of the Wolf Pack’s spirit program also graduated Saturday, raising the total of Nevada athletics representatives to 22.

“The perseverance shown by our graduates, not just in their athletics careers, but in also navigating the challenges of the COVID outbreak to earn their degrees, is awe-inspiring,” Athletics Director Doug Knuth said. “We are proud of their accomplishments in competition and their focus and dedication to their academic pursuits. We are also grateful for the world-class faculty and staff on our campus, and the leadership of former University president Marc Johnson and new president Brian Sandoval.”

The University’s virtual Commencement exercises included Spring 2020 graduates in a morning ceremony and Summer and Winter graduates in the afternoon. This past spring, the University conferred 3,143 degrees and certificates. With the combination of summer (550) and fall (1,399) degrees, the University will confer 1,949 degrees and certificates.

University graduates and their families were encouraged to join the Commencement conversation online by using the hashtag #NVGrad2020 and #PackPride.
