Check out these events taking place around the start of the 2017 fall semester!

We are rolling out the welcome mat for the start of the Fall 2017 semester. These events showcase #PackPride for our new and returning students.

  • NevadaFIT move in 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19
  • Move-in day 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24
  • New Student Opening Ceremony 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, Lawlor Events Center
  • Paint the N 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Aug. 27
  • Taste of Reno 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, Knowledge Center Lawn
  • Wolf It Down pancake breakfast 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, The Quad
  • Thursday Fest (Club Fair) 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, The Quad
  • Biggest Little Festival 3-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, Intramural Field

In 2017, 3,000 students will be living in University residence halls.

NevadaFIT

Short for “freshmen intensive transition,” NevadaFIT is a six-day academic program designed to increase success for incoming freshmen college students. This “boot camp” offers a glimpse into the University’s rigorous academic expectations and college life prior to the start of the semester.

  • 1,450 NEVADAFIT students enrolled this year
  • 959 of those enrolled will live in the dorms
  • All colleges and schools are participating

The Class of 2021 will witness the building and opening of Great Basin Hall, the new University Arts Building and the new Engineering Building.

#PackPride

  • The University currently offers more than 460 undergraduate and graduate degree, certificate and minor programs within 11 academic colleges and schools;
  • Since 2010, the University has invested $458 million in major campus building and infrastructure projects, of which 14% came from state funds;
  • The University has a total annual economic impact of $1.1 billion ;
  • From 2000 to 2016, there has been a 47% increase in Nevada population and 62% increase in University enrollment (fall semesters);
  • This year, we are projecting gains in both undergraduate enrollment and graduate enrollment;
  • Nevada alumni include 13 members of Congress, 5 governors and 3 U.S. Senators;
  • The University welcomes 36 new faculty toward the goal of 400 new faculty by 2020;
  • There are more than 400 National Merit and Presidential Scholars on campus;
  • The University is recognized as Best College in the State; Top 10 Best Value Schools; Top 10% in nation with the highest-paid graduates; Top 5 fastest-growing flagship universities.
