Brandon Boone was inaugurated Wednesday, April 13 as the 113th president of the Associated Students of the University of Nevada.

Previously the ASUN senator for the College of Business and the chair of the Committee for Civic Engagement within the senate, Boone is focused on increasing students' civic engagement and continuing to connect the University with the city.

1. What do you want to see at the University five years from now?

"If I come back to this school in five years, one thing I want to see is a much bigger connection between the school and the city and more civic engagement. This institution wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for someone giving to the community, so I think our students should be giving back just as much as was given to them."

2. What are your five favorite places on campus?

• The Quad
• The Joe Crowley Student Union
• Associated Students of the University of Nevada offices
• Manzanita Lake
• Mackay Stadium

3. What are the top five things you want to accomplish as ASUN president?

1. A continued campus to the city initiative, increasing civic engagement
"Building that Wolf Pack support so that it grows into the city and the city grows into the campus is very important."
2. Neighborhood beautification
"Some groundwork has already been laid to get Wolf Pack logos painted in the streets around campus and for bike lanes to be painted blue and silver."
3. Art exchange
"Getting local artists and our own student artists to display their artwork on campus and downtown."
4. Sustainability
"I want to start a new initiative to bring a bike share program to our campus. Giving students access to non-motor vehicles is a big step in the right direction."
5. Park Mobile
"I want to bring the "Park Mobile" service to campus. It's an app that allows students to park at any metered parking spot on campus and pay their meter through the app."

4. What are your must-haves for your office?

• Nevada Flag
• Laptop
• Campaign posters that include my list of goals
• Speakers for music
• A couch for hangouts

5. Who are your five favorite or most influential people at the University?

• President Marc Johnson
"He's a very genuine person and I think that earns him respect from a lot of students. I want to be like that in my position."
• Sandra Rodriguez, Director of Student Engagement
"I don't know how she manages to turn everything I ask her into a challenge to make me think deeper, but it definitely makes me a better person."
• Caden Fabbi, immediate past president of ASUN
"He's just helped to really prepare me so that I can be fully equipped to carry out the strategic plan for the University's next 10 years."
• Adam Ortiz, former president of Phi Beta Sigma
"Seeing a work ethic that I've never seen before - he sacrificed just about anything to make sure that what needs to get done gets done."
• Davion Barker, University student and Boone's roommate
"He's not someone that's crazily involved like I am and I really like that. He's so different from the people that I hang out with at school and we have normal conversations that aren't about ASUN or school."
