The role that whole-mind education, technology and today's generation will play in shaping our innovative future is the topic of this year's College of Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Jason Mendenhall, Switch Executive Vice President of Cloud, will present "Internet of Things, the Future and Our Part in It," at 5 p.m. on Sept. 25, 2016; reservations are required. His talk is free and open to the public.Jason Mendenhall

Mendenhall will present Switch's vision of the roadmap to the future and the role technology plays for all. Questions he will address include:
• what does our future hold for us,
• what kind of thinkers and leaders do we need to mold and drive the future and
• what role are Switch and its leaders playing to help map that future?

Switch is a global technology solutions company born and bred in Nevada. The company was founded by CEO and Chairman Rob Roy to innovate the data center industry through intelligent, patented designs and the sustainable growth of the internet.

In his role as Executive Vice President of Cloud, Jason Mendenhall oversees the SUPERNAP Cloud Ecosystems and drives Switch collaborative solutions to more than 1,000 clients Switch serves around the world.

"The importance of whole-mind education and its role in technology is shaping how we effectively apply innovation to future-forward services and solutions that have the potential to completely transform our day-to-day lives," Mendenhall said. "Exploration of visionaries and what's motivated them to stretch their imaginations and make their ideas a reality is one of the many ways that we're moving toward a remarkable future."

The College of Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series is co-organized with the College of Engineering Advisory Board under the direction of member Sara Lafrance. The lecture is in the Milt Glick Ballroom on the 4th Floor of the Joe Crowley Student Union. Parking for the event is free in the West Stadium Parking Complex off North Virginia Street.
