What a difference a year makes.

A year ago, both the Wolf Pack men's and women's basketball teams limped into the Mountain West Conference Tournament following difficult first seasons in the league.

In 2014, both teams are on the upswing, seeded third for this week's tournament.

The Nevada men capped a successful regular season on Saturday with a thrilling come-from-behind 76-72 victory over in-state rival UNLV to claim the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the MWC Tournament.

The Wolf Pack, led by Deonte Burton's 24 points, erased a 17-point second-half deficit to beat the Rebels for the second time this season. It's the first time the Wolf Pack has swept UNLV since 1995.

The Wolf Pack finished its regular season 15-16 and 10-8 in the Mountain West. With the win, the Wolf Pack will play the winner of Wednesday's Boise State-San Jose State matchup on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

The Wolf Pack women experienced a similar turnaround this season. Nevada, picked 10th in this year's preseason poll, earned the tournament's No. 3 seed after posting a 12-win conference season, the most conference victories in program history.

The Wolf Pack, 17-12 overall, meets San Diego State on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
