Summary
My name is Kristine Lu, and I grew up here in Reno, Nevada. I got my B.A. in Geosciences from Smith College in 2022 and found my way to the Desert Research Institute after graduating. During my undergrad, I conducted research on monitoring the transport of limestone boulder ridges from storm waves using satellite and drone imagery as well as helped find and excavate ichthyosaur bones with my advisor, Dr. Paula Noble. My work at the Desert Research Institute introduced me to a wide range of hydrologic and geomorphic projects and inspired me to want to learn more about hydrology. I hope to use what I have learned to create more applicable science and solve some of the issues facing our local community. During my free time I like traveling, taking care of my plants and looking at (and potentially bringing home) cool rocks.
