Summary

I am originally from Oswego, Illinois and graduated from Grinnell College with a degree in chemistry. My research with Dr. Frank Yang focuses on utilizing chemical tags as a tool alongside mass spectrometry analysis and metabolomic screening to elucidate the structure of pyrogenic organic carbon compounds. Understanding the chemical nature of these structures will help identify their role in biogeochemical cycling of carbon and associated elements, particularly in post-wildfire environments. Related to accelerating carbon cycles, I also study legacy and emerging contaminant exposure and transport near formerly used defense sites on Unalaska Island. When I'm not in the lab, I like to play soccer, run, read, and spend as much time as possible outside.
