The State of Nevada requires supervisors of classified employees to take supervisory training in the core areas below. Mandatory supervisor training is provided by DHRM and is available online through Workday.
Training schedule
The below courses are required and should be completed within six months of the supervisory appointment and every three years after:
- Work Performance Standards
- Evaluating Employee Performance
- Interviewing and Hiring
- Alcohol and Drug Testing Procedures
- Progressive Disciplinary Procedures
- Handling Grievances
- What Supervisors Need to Know About the ADA and ADA Accommodations
- Developing Essential Functions (pursuant to NAC 284.441)
- What Supervisors Need to Know About the FMLA
- Equal Employment Opportunity for Managers and Supervisors (Training course not currently available)
How to take training in Workday
Supervisors of classified employees will be automatically assigned the classified supervisor training program when they are assigned classified direct reports. The program contains each of the courses listed above. Each course needs to be completed in order to complete the training program. The training is due within six months of becoming a supervisor of classified employees. Training must be renewed every three years.
To access the mandatory supervisor training program in Workday, you can go directly to the program page, or you can go to your worker profile in Workday, click the career tab, and click “Learning – To Do”
You must pass each course in the program in order to complete the requirement. If you fail a course, you must drop the course and re-enroll in order to trigger a new attempt.
