Summary
Rosie Trump is a choreographer and dance filmmaker. Her creative work stems from an interest in the momentum a single movement action can generate.
Rosie's choreography and films have been shown widely nationally, as well as internationally. Recently, her work was presented by the San Francisco Dance Film Festival, the American Dance Festival’s Movies by Movers (Durham), Light Moves (IR), Extremely Short Shorts at the Aurora Picture Show (HOU), the Cleveland Dance Festival, the Comedy in Dance Festival (NYC), Sugar Space Foundation (SLC), the Prague Fringe Festival, and Your Move Dance Festival (Jersey City).
Recent awards include a Puffin Foundation grant, an Atlantic Center for the Arts residency, Project Grants for the Nevada Arts Council, and a jury award from the Constructed Sight Dance Film Festival.
She has taught at Rice University and Mt. San Jacinto College, as well as presented workshops at the American College Dance Association Screendance Festival, the Reno Dance Festival, and the Texas Dance Improvisation Festival.
Rosie is the founder and curator of the Third Coast Dance Film Festival, which celebrates the intersection of contemporary dance and the moving image with an annual screening and touring series of international dance films. The festival has screened across the United States, including at the Nevada Museum of Art, the Holland Project, DiverseWorks Art Space, the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival, and at various universities.
