Undergraduate minors

  • Black Studies

    The minor in Black Studies focuses on a critical and systematic examination of the histories, cultures, knowledge, experiences and communities of people of African descent globally. Black Studies emphasizes comparative, transnational and intersectional approaches to study the diverse cultural and historical contributions of African and African Diaspora communities and foregrounds questions of social justice for those communities.

  • Ethnic Studies, Minor

    The minor in Ethnic Studies is designed to increase students’ awareness of ethnic and racial issues, domestically and globally, the program examines the experiences and contributions of a wide range of peoples, societies and cultures.

  • Holocaust, Genocide & Peace Studies, Minor

    The Holocaust, Genocide & Peace Studies minor is designed to connect ideas and experiences by focusing on social, historical, philosophical, political, cultural and ethical issues in a wide variety of disciplines.

  • Indigenous Studies, Minor

    The Indigenous Studies minor is focused on cultures, knowledges, histories and experiences of Indigenous peoples in the Americas and across the globe.

  • Latinx Studies, Minor

    Focused on the peoples, cultures, knowledges and communities of Hispanic and/or Latin American descent in the United States, the Latinx Studies minor emphasizes the diverse cultural and historical contributions of those communities and examines the variety of Latinx cultures that exist both in the United States and transnationally.

  • LGBTQ Studies

    The LGBTQ Studies minor is focused on the varied histories, cultures, politics and identities associated with and created among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirit, intersex and other (LGBTQ+) people in the United States and transnationally.

  • Social Justice, Minor

    Designed to increase students’ knowledge of justice, conflict and social change and structural impediments or challenges to justice, the Social Justice minor offers opportunities to develop complex critical thinking around issues, as well as strategies for change including activism, advocacy, social policy and community organizing.

  • Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Minor

    This interdisciplinary program in the College of Liberal Arts provides students with an understanding of women in historical and contemporary contexts and an exploration of gender as it influences scholarship and human relations.
