Restricted Proctorio use

Colleagues:
We are reminding everyone that the Provost’s Office can only pay to proctor one exam per course using Proctorio for the 2020-2021 academic year. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to pay to proctor multiple exams for a single course using Proctorio. Typically Proctorio is funded from the $34.00 per credit online fee. Since we are not charging that fee for alternative Hyflex and alternative remote classes, we are having to use our very limited discretionary funds to pay for Proctorio. However, departments and colleges do have the option to fund Proctorio use beyond the Provost’s Office’s original contribution. Please contact me if this option is available to you so my office can help you arrange payment.
All that being said, we strongly encourage instructors to consider alternative testing strategies, including those described on the TLT online proctoring webpage. We believe that there are viable alternatives to Proctorio for remote proctoring.
I hope you all are having a good semester. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
David Shintani, Ph.D.
Vice Provost, Undergraduate Education
