  • What is Campus Escort doing to be COVID compliant?

    Campus Escort is taking steps to ensure our passengers' and employees' safety. We will be running at 50% capacity at this time. Passengers shall sit in designated areas of the van to maintain six feet of distancing.

    Both staff and passengers must wear face coverings at all times while in the vehicle. If the rider does not have a face covering, one will be provided to them. Other changes include:

    • Hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies will be available for passenger to use.
    • Gloves will be available for passengers to use for said cleaning.
    • No eating or drinking in the vans during the ride.
    • Windows must be rolled down during the ride to maintain outside air flow.
    • Air conditioning or heater will not be used; as current guidelines caution the use of recycled air in the vehicles.

    Campus Escort employees will also be cleaning the vans before and after each shift and after each ride. You can learn more about the University's guidelines and policies for COVID-19 on the University's coronavirus webpage.

  • Does Campus Escort Pick Up from Canyon Flats and the Uncommon?

    Yes. Campus Escort for the 2020-2021 school year will use the Nightly Shuttle Service to add stops to both apartment complexes due to residence life students being housed there. After 10 p.m., our on-demand van service may be requested for those locations as well.

  • Am I allowed to bring my children on any Campus Escort vehicle?

    No, due to our University policy, we are not allowed to transport any minors in government vehicles.

  • Who can use the service?

    Any student, faculty, staff, or visitor affiliated with a program of the University of Nevada, Reno.

  • Why should I use it?

    Because we provide you with a free, reliable and safe way to get to or from campus after dark. Whether you're going to or from class, studying or any other on-campus activity, we want to help.

  • How can I use it?

    There are three ways to request a ride:

    • Download the Nevada Campus Escort application from either Google Play or the Apple App Store. From there, you can request a ride and will be contacted upon your escort arrival from your application.
    • Call (775) 742-6808 and follow the instructions of the automated system. If you would prefer to speak to dispatcher, you may press 0 at any time, and we will answer your call as soon as possible.
    • Go to our homepage and Request a ride from the website by clicking on the link marked "Request a Ride Online!
  • Where do I go for my pickup?

    Once you get a notification saying your van has arrived, the van will be waiting in the pickup location. You can then check the Campus Escort App and you will see a blue pinpoint where the van is parked.

  • How long will it take?

    Due to varying levels of call volume, wait times can vary. However, you will typically be picked up within 10 to 15 minutes of requesting a ride. If you request a ride through the app, it will notify you when your ride from Campus Escort has arrived.

  • I heard Campus Escort provides an evening shuttle service. Is that true?

    Yes. We have a blue 12 passenger with white Campus Escort decal letters on the side.

    Our shuttle runs from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday. It travels back and forth between the North Green Lot Interchange, UNR School of Medicine, YOUnion, The Highlands, The Republic, Ponderosa Village, The Knowledge Center, Edmund J. Cain Hall, Fleischmann Agriculture, Jot Travis, Church Fine Arts, Lombardi Recreation Center, and the Family Medicine Center. Requesting a ride for the shuttle is not needed, but plan on 10-12 minutes maximum.

    Please note: if you place a request for a ride that is on our shuttle route, you will be asked to use the shuttle.

  • Can I call ahead of time to be picked up later that day?

    No, we service all requests in the order we receive them. Please call us 10 minutes before you need us. Our peak times are generally 7pm-10pm and your wait may significantly longer at this time, so keep that in mind.

  • I need more assistance, can I request a ride in advance?

    Patrons requiring assistance are encouraged to email or call 775-742-6808 to schedule a ride in advance during normal service hours to schedule a ride.

  • Is there a lost and found for Campus Escort?

    Campus Escort drivers turn in all lost and found items to dispatch at the end of their shift. You can contact the dispatcher at (775) 742-6808 if during Campus Escort hours the day the item was lost. All items are then turned into The Joe Crowley Student Union lost and found at the Information Desk during the next business day.

  • My phone died, is my ride cancelled?

    No, but you should be on the lookout for your Campus Escort van.

  • I see more than one van. How do I know which van is mine?

    At the top of the Campus Escort app it will say the van number. You can find the Campus Escort van number on the back of the vehicle.

  • Can I wave down a Campus Escort van?

    Yes. Flag downs can only be accepted if they are on campus and must still abide by all of our policies.

  • How will I recognize the Campus Escort Officers?

    The Campus Escorts will arrive in a white van with blue decals denoting the Campus Escort Service. The escorts will be wearing distinct uniforms including a navy blue Campus Escort polo shirt and dark blue jeans. During cold weather, the escorts may wear a navy blue jacket with "Campus Escort" printed on the back.

  • Are the Campus Escort Officers safe drivers?

    Yes. All Campus Escort employees undergo pre-employment screening, including criminal background checks and driving record checks. Further, they all undergo university-approved Defensive Driving courses as part of their training.

  • Can you help with car problems?

    Our ability to help is limited to battery jumps and tire changes during our service hours.

  • Can you provide rides for people in wheel chairs?

    Yes, after you have selected your pickup and drop off locations on the app, there will be options for how many passengers and directly below, there will be an option to choose wheelchair or bike assistance. Select the option for wheelchair and we will send a van to accommodate you. If you are calling in, please let our dispatcher know and they will get you the correct van.

  • Where is your office?

    Our main office is located inside the Joe Crowley Student Union, Room 334. Our dispatcher desk is JCSU 327, outside the Sagebrush offices in the ASUN Center for Student Engagement.

  • Can I get a ride by coming to your office?

    Yes, the dispatcher will enter a request for you.

  • Are there times when the service is very busy and I should avoid requesting a ride?

    Yes, there are times when our service is busy. However, we can always get to your request within a timely manner.

  • Can anyone work for the Campus Escort Service?

  • I'm 21 and I purchased alcohol with my groceries. Am I still allowed to use the Campus Escort Retail shuttle?

    No. You are not allowed to get back on to the retail shuttle with alcohol.

  • What other transportation is there in Reno?
    • RTC – all University of Nevada, Reno and TMCC students are able to ride RTC buses for free, no pass needed. All you need to get onto the bus is your WolfCard.
