How to declare a major

When starting within the College of Business, all students are initially declared as "Pre-Business" majors. Aside from other non-business courses, these students only have access to lower-division (100- and 200-level) Pre-Business Core courses within The College of Business.

To access any upper-division (300- and 400-level) Business courses (e.g. FIN 301, SCM 352, MGT 323), a student must apply to The College of Business and be formally admitted to one of our Business majors.

There are two main requirements for admission into a Business major:

  1. Have a minimum 2.0 grade point average (all coursework taken at the University)
  2. Have the last of the nine Pre-Business Core classes in progress or completed

If you will finish these two requirements in:

  • Spring or Summer - you must apply to The College of Business by March 1st
  • Fall or Winter - you must apply to The College of Business by October 1st

The major application is now closed. Contact your advisor for assistance.

You CANNOT enroll in any upper-division Business classes until you declare a Business Major!
