How to declare a major

When starting within the College of Business, all students are initially declared as "Pre-Business" majors. Aside from other non-business courses, these students only have access to lower-division (100- and 200-level) Pre-Business Core courses within The College of Business.

To access any upper-division (300- and 400-level) Business courses (e.g. FIN 301, SCM 352, MGT 301), a student must apply to The College of Business and be formally admitted to one of our Business majors.

There are two main requirements for admission into a Business major:

  1. Have a minimum 2.0 grade point average (all coursework taken at the University)
  2. Have the last of the nine Pre-Business Core classes in progress or completed

If you will finish these two requirements in:

  • Spring or Summer - you must apply to The College of Business by February 26th
  • Fall or Winter - you must apply to The College of Business by October 1st
  • If you missed the deadline to declare, you must still complete the Nearpod Lesson for your intended major. Afterwards, contact your assigned advisor about requesting your major change.

Please follow the links below to apply for your major.  Please keep in mind that the application process will take between 15-20 minutes to complete.  You MUST complete both the Nearpod Lesson and the application for your application to be considered.

You CANNOT enroll in any upper-division Business classes until you declare a Business Major!
