Overview

The University of Nevada, Reno has a strong history of promoting entrepreneurial opportunities and has the academic program to help students achieve their business aspirations. We develop entrepreneurial talent by developing real businesses.

The entrepreneurship minor is open to all students at the University and is designed without pre-requisites so any student can complement their major with entrepreneurial training. The program seeks to provide the student with fundamental entrepreneurial skills, enhancing the student's ability to open and operate a business.

The minor requires 18 total credits. There are three required courses, comprising 9 credits. The remaining 9 credits are electives. Required classes include new venture creation, entrepreneurial finance and applied entrepreneurship. The elective courses are chosen through a pre approved list of business classes including classes in management and entrepreneurship. The minor can be tailored for finance, marketing, accounting and management majors. For a detailed list of available classes, refer to the course catalog.

Comprehensive entrepreneurial opportunities and insight also come from the College's affiliations with the Nevada Small Business Development Center and Center for Regional Studies.
