Bias & Hate Incident reporting summary

When a report of an incident is made to the Hate and Bias Response Team through the online reporting system, the Equal Opportunity and Title IX Office reviews it for violation of the law or University policy. Bias-related incidents, while abhorrent and intolerable, may not violate University policy or break the law. In some instances the University can assist in addressing the behavior. In many instances, the University can provide support, services and resources. The following incidents were reported to, or referred to, the Hate and Bias Response Team beginning in the fall 2018 semester.

4/14/2020 Administrative faculty Zombombing interruption of ASUN Senate April meeting by Teddy, sender who used xenophobic expletives against Asian individuals. 2/11/2020 Student F*** N***ers written on wall. Reporter indicated that they noticed it a few months prior (Dec) but did not report at the time. When they returned, the racist statement was still there, at that point, they reported it. Frandsen Humanities (FH)- Men's bathroom Facilities was contacted and message painted over. 12/6/2019 Student Swastika inscribed into the bathroom wall. Mackay Science-Men's bathroom Facilities was contacted and the swastika was removed. See above link to ADL.
12/2/2019 Administrative Faculty Swastika redrawn on stairwell wall, after the first occurrence was reported and painted over. Ansari building -West stairwell Police responded and took police report, swastika was already removed when police arrived. See ADL link.
