Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society

Pi Sigma Alpha is the national honor society for political science.  It was founded in 1920 at the University of Texas and its purpose is to stimulate scholarship and intelligent interests in political science.  The Delta Xi chapter was established at UNR in 1964 and has inducted more than 900 members.  Members enjoy the recognition of their achievement, the opportunity to participate in national conferences, and leadership opportunities within the organization.  The Delta Xi chapter sponsors events every year to enrich and deepen students' understanding of political science.  If you are interested in becoming a Pi Sigma Alpha member, feel free to contact a member of the Executive Committee or the Faculty Adviser, Dr. Ian M. Hartshorn.

For membership, undergraduates must meet the following criteria: they must have completed at least one-half of the credits required by their institution for the baccalaureate degree; they must have completed at least ten semester-credits of work in political science, including at least one upper-division course, with an average grade of B or higher in those courses; they must have achieved an overall GPA placing them in the top one-third of their whole class (e.g., junior or senior class). They need not be political science majors to qualify for membership.
