Summary

Asher A. Killian serves as the Director of the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB), providing administrative support to the LCB as a whole, while also serving as the Legislative Counsel, leading the Legal Division of the LCB. He joined the LCB’s legal staff in 2007 and has previously served in multiple roles, including counsel for the Assembly and Senate Select Committees on Redistricting and Elections, the Assembly Committee on Government Affairs, the Assembly and Senate Committees on Education, the Legislative Commission, the Joint Interim Standing Committees on Commerce and Labor and Education, the Legislative Committees on Education and Health Care, and interim study committees concerning: redistricting; use of the name, image and likeness of student athletes; driving under the influence of marijuana; affordable housing; higher education; state personnel; and Alzheimer’s disease, in addition to serving as counsel to the NYL and the Board of Directors for Corporation for Public Benefit to Administer the NYL.

He is admitted to the State Bars of Oklahoma and Nevada and serves on the Nevada Bar’s Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Continuing Legal Education Committee, and Northern Nevada Disciplinary Panel. He also serves as a board member of the Public Lawyers Section of the Nevada State Bar and the Research, Editorial, Legal and Committee Staff Professional Staff Association of the National Conference of State Legislatures. He has presented continuing legal education coursework in areas including redistricting law, legislative and constitutional drafting, legal ethics, legislative privilege and the practice of law in a legislative context.

Asher is an avid baseball and hockey fan, cheering on the San Francisco Giants, Detroit Red Wings, Vegas Golden Knights and the Tahoe Knight Monsters.
