Faces of Extension: Kristina Williams, 4-H instructor

“I’ve had a lot of requests for new 4-H Clubs, so we’re trying to make that happen for our community.”

Kristina Williams.

Meet Kristina Williams, a community-based instructor for University of Nevada, Reno Extension. Kristina leads Extension’s 4-H Youth Development Program in Carson City and Storey County.

“I never actually thought about working in Extension,” Kristina said. “I was always a part of 4-H, starting from about 3rd grade. From raising rabbits, I grew into pigs and goats and lambs and horses, and just kept going and going.”

Before joining Extension, Kristina was a Washoe County School District teacher assistant. She’s been with Extension for just over a year.

“I started doing our summer day camps,” she said, “and I plan on doing more day camps during fall and winter school breaks. We had a Fall Festival in October, and we’re working on getting our 4-H Clubs built up.”

Extension offers 4-H Clubs and projects in Carson City and Storey County on topics such as pets, livestock, herpetology, archery and sewing.

Through clubs and projects, in- and afterschool activities, and camps, Extension’s 4-H Program provides youth ages 5 to 19 with hands-on learning experiences, mentorship opportunities, and the chance to explore STEAM disciplines in fun and interactive ways.

If you’d like to become a 4-H leader and enrich local youth by starting a club or project or sharing a passion, hobby or skill, please contact Kristina.

“I’ve had a lot of requests for new clubs,” she said, “so we’re trying to make that happen for our community.”
