Nov. 7 update: Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled and will not be taking place on Nov. 10. Students are still welcome to visit the Nevada Museum of Art at any time as part of the Free Student Admission Program.

Students are invited to attend Reveal: A Talk with Artist Sydney Cain (aka sage stargate) on Nov. 10, from 6 – 7 p.m., free of charge.  In addition to a presentation by the artist, the event also features a conversation between Cain and Lance L. Smith, a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and teacher based in Las Vegas, NV.

Cain (she/them), is a visual artist born and raised in San Francisco, CA. Their work reflects encounters with unseen realities while drawing on their family’s genealogy, and the intersections of urban renewal and displacement on the psychic, spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing of marginalized communities.

One of Cain’s pieces, And They Are Not Afraid of the Night Because They Are the Color of It, 2021 is part of the Museum’s permanent collections and currently on view in the exhibition, In Frequencies.

Students who are interested in attending the talk can register for the event on the Museum website.

Additional support for this event provided by the Nevada Arts Council.
