Hello, my name is Tim Wolfe, and I’m the director of financial aid here at the University of Nevada, Reno. I’m here to talk to you about the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act. Congress recently passed a Coronavirus Relief Actwhich gave money to colleges to give back to students. It’s kind of like the stimulus check like some of you have received.

With CARES Act, the University of Nevada, Reno is getting about 7.1 million dollars and we’re happy to give that money to you. What do you have to do to qualify for it? You have to have completedaFAFSA at the University of Nevada, Renoand it had to been completed for the 2019-20 year. If you have not done the FAFSA form, please go on the fafsa.gov to complete one as soon as possible.

To apply for the CARES act money is really simple, go out to unr.edu/financial aid and look up the CARES Act. We will have a one page application for you to fill out.It’s that simple. The awards range from $200 to $800 dollars. You can use it as a cashpayment for groceries, your books, computer technology, etc. That money is yours.
