What began as a friendship has grown into a now flourishing new company. Michael Gillette, Daniel Smith, and John Kirkpatrick met in class at the University of Nevada, Reno. In the years since, the friends have become business partners in Nevada Jumpstarter.

The trio started out as student workers right here at The Innevation Center University of Nevada, Reno – Powered By Switch and recognized the need for startup consulting and design help within The Innevation Center’s clientele. Nevada Jumpstarter helps in the conceptualization, design, prototyping, and development of ideas for new products and inventions, and their services include a free first consultation and continuing support and guidance throughout each step of the design and creation process.

“We want people to know that we will guide them through the process of prototyping,” Kirkpatrick said. “With our free consultation we can tell clients whether or not something would work and ways to make it better before we jump into prototyping,” said Smith.

Gillette, Smith, and Kirkpatrick hope that within the year, they will have considerably more clients seeking their beneficial consulting and prototype design services. They “encourage any and all” to find them in the Makerspace in the basement of The Innevation Center.

Additionally, the Nevada Jumpstarter trio emphasized the impact that The Innevation Center has had on the success of their company. “We really couldn’t exist without The Innevation Center,” Smith remarked. “It has really provided us with a place to be able to grow and has offered so many opportunities”.
