TEDxUniversityofNevada recently announced it will return Jan. 27, 2018 with a new venue: the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Over the course of the last five years, TEDxUniversityofNevada has become one of the most sought-after TEDx events in the country. Not only is it a hub for some of the brightest innovators, inspirational speakers and spellbinding performers, but the event has also fostered national dialogue with its combined 102 total videos, reaching nearly 19 million views online.

Set to return Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, TEDxUniversityofNevada will take place at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The new venue is made possible with strong support from the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority and the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

"We are really excited about the creative possibilities the space at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center has to offer," Bret Simmons, event curator and University of Nevada, Reno College of Business associate professor, said. "Along with our ongoing goal to assemble a dynamic speaker and performer lineup, this move reflects our team's interest in continually challenging ourselves to provide a quality experience for our audience. We are hopeful that more people than ever will be able to experience TEDxUniversityofNevada in person."

The January 2017 TEDxUniversityofNevada was the most successful to date. Speakers like Bill Eckstrom, Jocko Willink, Alexis Jones and Samina Ali helped draw the largest crowd and greatest number of online video views in the event's history. In just under 90 days, the 22 videos have already racked up nearly 4 million combined views.

"It's a great honor to be a part of TEDxUniversityofNevada," RSCVA President and CEO Phil DeLone said. "The University has grown this event into a nationally recognized incubator of thought and philosophy, and it continues to garner praise, positively impacting the overall perception of the Reno Tahoe area."

Presenting sponsors of TEDxUniversityofNevada include the University's College of Business Online Executive MBA program, the Associate Students of the University of Nevada, the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority and the University of Nevada, Reno. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available for this year's event. For more information, contact Bret Simmons at simmonsb@unr.edu.

TEDxUniversityofNevada's official call for speakers will open June 1, 2017. Local speakers interested in participating in the event are encouraged to save the date and submit proposals early to share their "big idea worth spreading." Once open, the 2018 call for speakers will be on the TEDxUniversityofNevada website.
