Five members of University of Nevada, Reno "Super Readers are Superheroes" literacy program participated in the Run for Education Sunday, Oct 22, to benefit the Education Alliance of Washoe County. The literacy team, along with three of their dogs, dressed up as superheroes to promote their slogan, "Super Readers are Superheroes."

The literacy program is generously funded through the Regent's Service Program, with help from University's College of Liberal Arts, criminal justice Department, and interdisciplinary social psychology doctoral program. It is also affiliated with the departments of sociology and communication studies and the School of Social Research and Justice Studies.

The literacy program works with Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows to improve literacy in at-risk youth. In the past four years, the team has helped approximately 300 students build their confidence and reading skills.
