Since the great recession of 2008, the University of Nevada, Reno has grown and matured, following a strategic plan which is aggressive in each dimension of its mission. The University has reached record levels of enrollment, retention, graduation, diversity and faculty achievement.

In his State of the University Address on Tuesday, Sept. 26, President Marc Johnson will expand on the plan and the path the University will be following in the coming year and beyond in reaching its major institutional goals.

The annual presentation will be held in the Joe Crowley Student Union Milt Glick Ballrooms, on the fourth floor. It is expected to begin at 4 p.m., with introductory remarks from Faculty Senate Chair Tom Harrison.

Johnson's speech, "Purpose, Planning and Performance" is intended as a mid-course report of major goals that were first described in 2014, with an evaluation of actions being taken to reach these goals. The University's "three big goals" include: 1) Respond to enrollment growth with quality, experiential learning and move toward a student-to-faculty ratio of peer median, 18:1; 2) Develop a high-impact research university measure by the Carnegie classification R-1; 3) Serve as a pillar for economic development in the New Nevada.
