Denise Goode, Mail Service Clerk in Mailroom Services, was named September's Classified Employee of the Month by the Staff Employees Council.
Goode, according to nominator Cami Allen of the Department of English, approaches her duties "in an extremely professional manner, with a smile on her face and greets everyone by name."
"As a very large department, we have many various mailing questions and needs," writes Allen. "Denise never hesitates to assist and explain policies and procedures to us in a very patient and kind manner. On several occasions, in situations in which we are facing deadlines, she has offered to come back to our building to pick up packages.
"Every day, 'rain or shine,' we see Denise rolling her mail cart full of boxes and envelopes, walking building to building, with her upbeat and friendly personality. She provides great overall customer service and her knowledge of Mailroom Services is unmatched. ... We are lucky to have her as a colleague on campus."
Goode, for her part, says "meeting different people" is the most pleasing aspect of her job in Mailroom Services.
