Nevada Silver & Blue wins top journalism awards

Nevada Silver & Blue, the magazine of the University of Nevada, Reno, has won four awards in the Nevada Press Association's Best of Nevada Journalism 2013 contest. Winners were announced at the association's banquet Sept. 28 in Elko, Nev. Since the Nevada Press Association expanded its annual contest to include a Magazine Class in 2009, Nevada Silver & Blue has won awards each year, for a total of 31 awards. 

This year, the magazine won first place Best Regular Department for the Family Tree Challenge by Christy Jerz '97 (journalism) and Kelli Paul '98 (speech pathology), '00M.A. (speech pathology); second place Best Regular Department for "What I've Learned" by Crystal Parrish, Theresa Danna-Douglas and Patrick McFarland '97 (journalism); second place for Best In-House Promotion for the Alumni Association membership ad; and third place Best Local Column for "Kickin' It with K-von" by K-von '03 (marketing) and McFarland.
