Conkey selected as 8th Army ROTC Brigade cadet of the month

Sarah Conkey, a sophomore community health science major, was selected as the 8th Army ROTC Brigade Cadet of the Month. The brigade includes all Army ROTC programs in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, Nevada, Alaska, Hawaii and Guam.

Sarah excelled throughout the month and set an example for cadets and aspiring cadets at the University of Nevada, Reno. Lieutenant Colonel Mike Minaudo, chair of the military science department at the University said that "Sarah's positive attitude and mature leadership style is laudable."

During the fall semester, Conkey attained the highest score out of any ROTC cadet in the state of Nevada on the Army Physical Fitness Test. Her academic performance was noted for excellence and her cultural understanding presentation on Haiti was identified by military science course instructors as the best presentation out of all students.

Conkey is a graduate of Reed High in Sparks, Nev. Conkey participates in the Simultaneous Membership Program with the Nevada Army National Guard where she is a member of the 422d Signal Company.
