University awards more than 1,450 degrees

Winter Commencement Delayed to 9 a.m.

The Winter Commencement Ceremonies, Saturday, December 7th, will be delayed one hour due to predicted inclement weather conditions. Faculty should arrive at 8:45 a.m. entering the Lawlor Events Center through the Ticket Office entrance. Faculty will be directed to the Faculty Robing Room. The Processional will begin at 9:25 a.m.

The University of Nevada, Reno's Winter Commencement will take place Saturday, Dec. 7 at Lawlor Events Center. A total of 1,075 bachelor's degrees and 386 advanced degrees or certificates (master's and doctoral degrees and education specialist certificates) will be awarded. 

Graduating students and faculty leaders will assemble at 8 a.m., and the ceremony procession will begin at 8:15 a.m. University President Marc Johnson will deliver welcoming remarks. 

The University has seen an increase in graduates year-after-year, granting 23 percent more degrees since 2007. A total of 3,716 degrees were granted last academic year.

Public parking is available in the West Stadium Parking Complex, directly north of Lawlor Events Center, as well as the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex. The 15th Street entrance to campus, off Virginia Street, will close at 7 a.m. and will be accessible for special guests and media parking only.
