Nevada's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD)

The Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities serves as Nevada's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). The UCEDDs were established and funded by the Developmental Disabilities Rights Assistance and Rights Act (DD Act). UCEDDs work to accomplish a shared vision that foresees a nation in which all Americans, including Americans with disabilities, participate fully in their communities. Independence, productivity and community inclusion are key components of this vision. The DD Act funds 67 Centers at universities in every state and territory.

As part of the University of Nevada, Reno, the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities develops and provides exemplary services, programs, education, research, and knowledge translation in order to foster interdependence, inclusion, equity, and opportunities for all Nevadans with a disability by proactively collaborating with individuals, their families, and with various community-based organizations and systems.

Vision

The Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities will expand our research and dissemination activities by creating and sharing knowledge and best practices, branch further into underserved communities throughout Nevada while continuing to serve the entire state, advocate on behalf of universal accessibility, inclusivity, and equity in opportunities and services, and unify our efforts to become the state’s premier disability resource Center.

Through the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities’ work as a statewide hub for cutting-edge evidence-based education, community training and services, knowledge production and translation, and research, Nevada will become a place where people with disabilities are fully valued and equitably included in all aspects of society, of life, and of their community. The Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities will serve as an inclusive and culturally competent leader in the provision of essential services and programs in order to serve people with disabilities and their families and to lead disability awareness and advocacy efforts across the state.
