Abstract
Wind direction plays a key role in enabling drones to assess their surroundings and respond effectively. However, drones often lack the ability to distinguish ambient wind from their own motion. Drawing inspiration from flying animals and their ability to differentiate wind using motion data, the goal is to train an artificial neural network to estimate wind direction using commonly available sensor sets to enhance drone sensory capabilities, performance, and robustness.
