The challenges facing our court systems are becoming more complex, so continuously educating the judiciary is imperative. At the forefront of this is the Judicial Studies graduate degree program at the U.S. News & World Report Tier 1-ranked University of Nevada, Reno, which offers one of two known judicial studies graduate programs nationwide - and the only known program to offer a Ph.D. in Judicial Studies. The Judicial Studies graduate degree program, established in 1986, has made a significant global impact on the field of judicial education, graduating nearly 200 judges with advanced degrees and currently enrolling judge-students from 33 U.S. states and a number of foreign countries as well.
Today's judiciary must be well-equipped to handle the plethora of challenges facing our courts and justice system. The Judicial Studies graduate degree program at the University of Nevada, Reno, in collaboration with the NJC and the NCJFCJ, is uniquely positioned to offer judicial officers two concentration options for the master's degree (trial track and juvenile/family track), both of which lead to eligibility to apply for the doctoral degree program. The curriculum focuses on judges, their roles and contributions to American society and on the improvement of services rendered by judges in a free society.
