Summary

Dr. Amir Talaei-Khoei is an as an associate professor of information systems at the Ansari College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). An international professional in the field of analytics and an accomplished educator, Dr. Amir Talaei-Khoei leverages his knowledge to provide insights and research solutions in healthcare areas such as disease modeling, disease prediction, and occupational safety. He also analyzes data in the investigation of engineering issues related to mining, road construction, and wildfire management. His research has been supported by state, federal, and international agencies such as National Science Foundation and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. His research efforts also include the use of social media as a tool for student engagement. Using the lens of revised community of inquiries (RCOI), Dr. Talaei-Khoei examines strategies such as flipped classes and peer-learning practices to observe how students engage both in and out of the classroom.

Prior joining UNR in 2016, Amir was a faculty member at University of Technology, Sydney in Australia. Dr. Talaei-Khoei received his PhD in Information Systems from the University of New South Wales and holds a Master of Science in information technology from Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology. He previously served as an executive member of the Australian chapter of the Association for Information Systems.
