Job Description: The Director of The Center will be responsible for developing, directing, and administering all operations, programming, services, and resources that advance the mission of The Center, the values of the University of Nevada, Reno and the mission of the Division of Student Services. Responsibilities include: developing and implementing strategies for increasing and strengthening the retention of diverse student populations (both undergraduate and graduate); offering services that provide support to student from underrepresented populations; facilitating diversity related programs that foster inclusive learning for all students to promote education, interaction, and understanding across cultures; and providing expert advice, consultation, and support to faculty, staff and community members in the areas of inclusion, diversity, and multicultural issues and concerns that impact students. The Director is also responsible for supporting the work across the University that focuses on promoting campus awareness of diversity issues and initiatives as well as fostering a respectful campus climate that supports social justice, equity in education, and broad participation throughout the campus by all members of the University Community. Reporting to the Associate Vice president for Student Life Services, the Director will supervise five full time staff and an array of graduate and undergraduate student staff and interns.

Executive Assistant

Job Description: The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Executive Assistant for the Student Life Services Department. This position provides the highest level of administrative support to the Associate Vice President for Student Life Services and to the Office of the Vice President of Student Services. Duties will include but are not limited to: Organize and maintain confidential records and files for the Associate Vice President; Review, proofread and edit documents prepared for the Associate Vice President's signature; Compose correspondence and prepare administrative reports and/or financial records; coordinate and facilitate the Associate Vice President's calendar to schedule appointments and engagements; Human Resource duties - process contracts for department directors and office managers, provide back up support to offices when their HR liaisons are out, enter department personnel information, supervise and schedule student workers, provide assistance on current searches in the division as well as serve as Search Coordinator as requested; train and orient new and existing staff to agency policies, standards and procedures as needed; oversee and directed activities to ensure efficient and effective operation of the office of the Associate Vice President for Student Life Services; budget support - participate in the development of the office budget, prepare narrative and statistical justifications in support of requests for additional funding, oversee all state budgets in the division, monitor them closely and alert office managers of issues.

Manager, Studen Union Operations

Job Description: The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Manager, Student Union Operations. The Manager, Student Union Operations coordinates training and supervises approximately 180 student employees, volunteers, and graduate assistants in collaboration with the Student Union's full time team. The 167,000 square foot JCSU building serves as the center for student life and co-curricular activities. The Manager is responsible for the security and emergency response of the building as well as the successful 24/7 operation of the JCSU during evenings and weekends. The incumbent oversees all activities during non-traditional hours within the student union facilities including, but not limited to, the Information Center, theatre, box office, programming spaces, and conference facilities. The Manager supervises student staff and coordinates facility maintenance and setups with the JCSU Scheduling Office and the swing and graveyard custodial crews, interprets and implements university and Student Union policies and procedures for facility usage and programming and oversees student employees in coordination with the Associate Director, Joe Crowley Student Union Operations.

Assistant Dean, Studet Conduct

Job Description: The Division of Student Services at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking for an Assistant Dean, Student Conduct. The Assistant Dean, Student Conduct is responsible for handling conduct complaints brought against students by faculty, staff or other students. The Assistant Dean investigates cases, gathers evidence, and makes a determination on whether charges will be brought against the student. The Assistant Dean, in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct makes findings and determinations on sanctions for student found in violation of the Student Code of Conduct. The Assistant Dean will consider applicable policies of the Nevada System of Higher Education and the University of Nevada in review of student behaviors. The Assistant Dean serves as the leader in working with University, local, and state agencies on devising joint programs and services to enhance the University's Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Intervention, Education and Treatment Services for students, including preparing grant proposals for these programs and the student conduct function. The Assistant Dean is a member of the Student Intervention Team led by the Dean of Students. The Assistant Dean also serves as a member of other campus-wide committees, including the Title IX Coalition, the Academic Standards Committee, and The Drug, Education, Intervention, Testing and Treatment Program for athletics, as well as any other applicable committees.

Associate Director, Student Union Operations

Job Description: The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for the position of Associate Director, Student Union Operations for the Joe Crowley Student Union. The incumbent is a key member of the senior management team who works closely with and reports to the Director of the Student Union. The incumbent is responsible for design, execution, security, and effectiveness of the daily operations of the 167,000 square feet Joe Crowley Student Union (JCSU). The person directly supervises full-time administrative faculty, classified staff, and manages the oversight of building operations' student employees program, including, but not limited to, operations, custodial and set-up/breakdown staff. The Associate Director is responsible for the translation of University of Nevada, Reno and Student Services' goals and/or policies into the operational plans and procedures for the diverse functions, services, and programs in the Student Union. The individual devlelops and manages the multi-million dollar operating budget in addition to the capital improvement from the Nevada Wolf Shop and retail vendors housed in the student union. The incumbent provides stewardship of the student fees to ensure that operations are effective, efficient, and meet the needs of the university community. The individual supervises and coordinates all aspects of construction/renovation projects to the student union facilities. The Associate Director is responsible for all operational decisions concerning the student union in the absence of the Director.

Assistant Director, Upward Bound Programs

Job Description: The Division of Student Services at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking an Assistant Director, Upward Bound programs. the Assistant Director, reports directly to the Upward Bound Director and is responsible for the planning, coordination, assessment, and significant supervision of components of three Upward Bound grants and one Upward Bound Math Science grant funded through the U.S. Department of Education, including the instructional services for weekend academies and the residential component of the five-week simmer academy. In addition, the Assistant Director has oversight responsibility for all academic support programs including direct supervision of the Tutor Coordinator. The Assistant Director works within a loosely structured framework consisting of several unique but interrelated programs with defined outcome objectives. The Assistant Director takes a leadership role in all areas of program assessment and evaluation including facilitating the collection of outcome results for four federal annual performance reports.

Program Coordinator

The incumbent works with the established and emerging programs, such as the Success Series (First Year Experience) and Orientation program, within the New Student Initiatives (NSI) office, in the Dean of Students Office - Student Life Services (SLS). The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the planning and implementation of the new student orientation program as it relates to creating a strong persistence and college graduation culture. Responsibilities may include recruitment, selection and training of orientation staff, facilitation and presentation of orientation topics and panels, and orientation logistics; transfer student transition program, including session development, scheduling and advising; Wolf Pack Welcome, including scheduling  and staging of activities, coordination of events calendar; and participating in the planning process; first-year success series, including presentations, incentives and marketing. Additionally, the Program Coordinator assists with the supervision of student staff. The position reports to the Assistant Dean, NSI. Lastly, this position will assist with future planning, vision and implementation of NSI programs and services, as the University of Nevada, Reno continues to grow in both size and diversity within the first-year class and prepares our future graduating classes for the demands of a university wanting to become a Research University/Very High (RU/VH) Carnegie Classified campus and a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution.

Resident Director

Job Description: Residential Life, Housing and Food Services at the University of Nevada is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic professionals looking for a strong team of supportive colleagues committed to student excellence to join our Resident Director team. The Resident Director of a residential area is responsible for developing a balanced program of social, education, and recreational activities; training and supervising student staff; managing student discipline, developing hall governments; reporting repairs and maintenance needs; and the general administration of the residential area. Additional administrative assignments are made to specific tasks or duties including but not limited to judicial board, license appeals, safety committee, staff training and selection, leadership training, programming committees, and other departmental and university committees. Sumer duties may include assisting with summer housing, confrences, room assignments, program planning for the academic years, and/or other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director. A Resident Director maintains full-time office hours, in addition to responding to emergency/crisis situations 24 hours-a-day and 7 days-a-week. Weekend duty is split among the professional live-in staff and graduate students (when applicable).
