Director, Veteran Services

Job Description: The University recognizes and embraces the critical importance of diversity in preparing students for global citizenship and is committed to a culture of excellence, inclusion, and accessibility. This position reports to the Registrar. The Director of Veteran Services is responsible for providing effective leadership in a multi-objective Enrollment and Student Services department. The position is responsible for developing and evaluating the services administered in response to an increasing population of non-traditional, diverse military and veteran student population. The leadership primarily focuses on administrative oversight required to uphold federal regulations and policy for a comprehensive and complex Veterans Administration benefit in conjunction with the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and University policy. All efforts of the position are strategically implemented to promote retention and graduation of the target student population.

The Director oversees fiscal management of programs, program development and evaluation, the administration of Veteran Administration (VA) education and vocational rehabilitation benefits as well as the fiscal management of Veteran Administrative funds. The Director is the chief liaison, on and off campus, to increase awareness and educate in issues that impact the recruitment and retention of the non-traditional, diverse population of active duty military, reservists, National Guard, veterans and their families. The position reports to the Associate Vice President, Enrollment Services.

Job Description: The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3 for the Dean of Students Office. This position directly reports to the Dean of Students and provides assistance to the office's five departments. The departments are: Office of Student Conduct, New Student Initiatives, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Nevada Career Studio and Campus Victim Advocate. Duties will include, but are not limited to: coordinate and facilitate the Dean of Student's calendar to schedule appointments and engagements; budget support; participate in development of the office budget with the Dean of Students; oversee the fourteen accounts supervised by the Dean of Students and alert office managers of any issues; human resources duties; process contracts for department directors and office managers; provide back up support to offices when their HR liaisons are out; serve as Search Coordinator for the department as requested; provide customer service to students, faculty and staff; supervise and schedule student workers; provide assistance in student emergency situations, as requested. 

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, exercise good judgement, be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment, have attention to detail, and maintain confidentiality.

Job Description: Residential Life, Housing and Food Services at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a dedicated and innovative professional to join our Residential Education team. The Coordinator for Residential Life serves an important role in the coordination and implementation of diversity initiatives and student staff training in the department under the supervision of an Assistant Director of Residential Life, the Coordinator for Residential Life serves as an advisor for student leaders and coordinates the recruitment, training and assessment of the multiple student leadership positions in the residence halls. The position is responsible for coordinating the implementation of residential life programs and activities including the administration of funds, manages the department collaboration with other University department programs and educational initiatives, and supervises student employees. The Coordinator provides general administration and oversees risk management associated with large scale student events and activities for on campus students, maintains full-time office hours, to include evening/weekend hours for programs and training. Summer duties include assisting with program planning for the academic year, coordinating volunteer involvement for opening, or other related duties.
