Alicia Gingrich, M.D., appointed as the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Representative for UNR Med and Renown Health

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is proud to announce that Alicia Gingrich, M.D., a nationally recognized surgical oncologist and physician-scientist, has been appointed as the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Representative for UNR Med and Renown Health.

Dr. Gingrich brings a wealth of clinical and research expertise to this role. A fellowship-trained surgical oncologist from the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center, she specializes in advanced treatment of sarcoma, melanoma, gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and liver cancers, as well as rare malignancies.

A U.S. Army veteran and former member of the 82nd Airborne Division, Dr. Gingrich also serves as Principal Investigator at Renown on multi-institutional clinical trials and has authored over 40 publications. Her appointment to the IRB marks a pivotal step for UNR Med’s research mission, bringing high-level clinical insight to protocol review and enhancing the rigor, safety and efficiency of biomedical research oversight.

Dr. Gingrich’s presence on the IRB further strengthens our commitment to advancing precision medicine, protecting patient welfare, and accelerating high-impact research across our institution. Her leadership will directly contribute to improving care for patients in Northern Nevada and beyond.
