The University’s Office of Indigenous Relations, The Multicultural Center and the University’s Native American Alumni Chapter will hold the 2026 Powwow Royal Pageant and 2026 Powwow on campus today and tomorrow, April 3 and 4. Open to the University and local communities, the events recognize and celebrate Indigenous culture, leadership and tradition.

The University Royal Pageant will be held today at 6 p.m. in the Joe Crowley Student Union Theatre. The event honors the strength, knowledge and dedication of Native youth as they represent their communities through traditional values. The pageant will recognize 2026-2027 braves and princesses from 3 to 18 years old as well as the 2026-2027 University of Nevada, Reno Indigenous Ambassador, a current University student. Winners will be announced at the University Powwow tomorrow.

The University Powwow will be held tomorrow, April 4, with grand entry at noon on the University Quad. Attendees will enjoy traditional Indigenous dancing, authentic Indigenous food vendors and various beautifully handcrafted art pieces and jewelry.

“University of Nevada students have done an incredible job organizing this event,” University Director of Indigenous Relations Daphne Emm Hooper said. “They want to share their Native culture with the University community and invite the Native community to learn more about the University and opportunities for the future generations.”
