On Thursday, April 9, the Wolf Pack will come together once again for Giving Day: The Wolf Pack Way, a 24-hour celebration of generosity, community and impact. It’s our moment to rally behind Nevada students, to support the programs that shape their experience, and to “pass it on, Wolf Pack!”
Last year, 1,646 generous donors gave more than $750,000 collectively to support the nearly 24,000 students who constitute Nevada’s next leaders. As we enter our fourth Giving Day, we’re building on that momentum and aiming to make an even greater difference across campus.
But Giving Day is about participation as much as dollars. Every gift, no matter the size, helps unlock additional funding through matches and challenges available throughout the day and demonstrates broad community support for the University, located in “Nevada’s College Town.”

This year, donors can choose from more than 120 areas to support. From student clubs and organizations to academic programs and scholarships, from Nevada Athletics to alumni chapters and campus initiatives — like the University Police K-9 program — there are dozens of ways to make an impact. Every area of campus has a story, and every gift helps move it forward. Explore your options at GivingDay.unr.edu.
“Whether through supporting a club that helps a student find belonging or a scholarship that helps them earn a degree, Giving Day is about placing opportunity in the hands of Nevada students,” said Vice President for University Advancement Tracy Ostrem.
Every donation and every donor help meet the University’s most pressing needs and fuel its mission of learning, discovery and engagement. Together, these gifts send a powerful message: We believe in Nevada students, in the work happening on campus, and in the future they’re building.
Nevada students are at the heart of Giving Day
Donors can give anytime between now and April 9 to support students like Sienna-Rae Montoya and initiatives like the Filipino Club, which is fundraising to bring the Filipino Festival to campus.
“I joined the Filipino Club to learn more about myself and my culture,” Sienna-Rae said. “Through donor support we’ll be able to share that culture with everyone. Everybody gets a little piece.”
Wolf Pack Taiko Club member Lorenzo Martinez noted that Giving Day support for student organizations helps them access leadership and networking opportunities they might not otherwise experience, like the Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational.
“It helps us grow and bond as a club, improve as performers and even learn more about ourselves,” Lorenzo said.
Anthony Davis will be a first-generation college student this fall, but he would not be enrolling without University scholarships and the First in the Pack program — both of which donors can support during Giving Day.
“Without that support, I would need to spend several years saving up to go to school,” Anthony said. “Instead, I can move toward my future and the career I want as an engineer now, and it’s much less intimidating knowing I’ll have mentors to help me figure it out. I feel like I can really do it.”
You can help promote your area of choice now through Giving Day: The Wolf Pack Way by using the social media toolkit to help spread the word.

Challenges make gifts go further
A series of challenges backed by the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation and generous donors will unlock throughout Giving Day, helping donors’ dollars do even more for students:
Colleges and schools challenge
The colleges and schools with the greatest number of donors receive $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place and $2,000 for third place.
50-state challenge
If a gift is received from all 50 states, $5,000 for student scholarships is unlocked.
Faculty and staff challenge
Once 300 faculty and staff members give, $5,000 is unlocked for undergraduate research.
ASUN and Club Sports challenge
The ASUN club or Club Sports team with the greatest number of donors receive $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second place and $1,000 for third place. (At least 25 donors need to give to the ASUN club or Club Sports team for the club or team to qualify.)
Battle Born Recruitment and Retention match
For every unique Giving Day donor to any cause or unit on campus, Campagni Auto Group, Carson City Toyota and Capital Ford will contribute $15 to Nevada Athletics’ Battle Born Recruitment and Retention Fund — up to $30,000.
Nevada Alumni Association match
For every Giving Day donor, the Nevada Alumni Association will contribute $2 — up to $5,000.
EECB Colloquium match
Every dollar contributed to the Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology Colloquium will be matched — up to $12,000.
Every gift, no matter the size, supports the next generation of Nevada alumni. Giving Day is April 9 — pass it on, Wolf Pack.
