Winter coats being collected on campus Friday, Nov. 17 - #PackGivesBack

As the weather turns cold, the Nevada Alumni Association is working to help the local community stay warm.

The Nevada Alumni Association's Women's Programming Group, in its inaugural partnership with the Big Reno Coat Drive, invite all alumni, faculty, staff, students and community businesses to help fill a campus 12-passenger shuttle van with coats to benefit our community.

The campus coat drive is from 7 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17. There are two campus locations being offered for anyone to drop off new or gently used winter coats for men, women and children:

  • Drive-up location:
North side of Lombardi Recreation Center (Enter off N. Virginia and 15th Street, near Lawlor Events Center, and follow the signage)
  • Walk-up location:
Joe Crowley Student Union Gateway Plaza - look for the shuttle!

Special thanks to the University Campus Escort Program for providing the coat-drive shuttle to hold and transport donations.

About the Big Reno Coat Drive

Founded in 2005, the Big Reno Coat Drive is a non-profit charity organization which is supported by many businesses and volunteers within our community. The mission of the Big Reno Coat Drive is simple "People helping People." Over the last 12 years, with the help of local businesses and residents, we have collected more than 20,000 coats. The coats collected go directly back to our community. They are donated to various agencies and Title 1 schools including the Reno Sparks Gospel Mission, The Life Change Center, Casa De Vida, Northern Nevada HOPES, Step 1, Inc., Step 2, Children's Cabinet, Safe Embrace, Head Start and many others.
