United Way campaign set for Oct. 15-Nov. 15

Campus participation encouraged by University President Marc Johnson

(Editor's note: The following is a campus-wide letter from University President Marc Johnson regarding the United Way campaign.)

Dear Colleague,

The 2013-2014 United Way Campaign will run from Oct. 15-Nov. 15.  This year, the University has a goal to raise $25,000 for the United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra campaign.  This is a slight increase from last year's contribution of $21,688.  As part of the campaign process, the campaign is again offering exciting incentives.  Employees who make a pledge of $25 or more will be eligible for a drawing to win special prizes including tickets to the Fleischmann Planetarium, gift certificates from the Nevada Wolf Shop, School of the Arts concert/theatre tickets, and a gift certificate for a professional development course from Extended Studies, among other items.  Winners will be notified by Dec. 4.

United Way focuses on providing building blocks for a good quality of life: education, financial stability and health.  Please consider supporting this year's campaign which directly impacts our local community; a community that so generously supports the University.  Let's help improve the quality of life for those needing assistance in northern Nevada.  Employees interested in participating in the campaign should give their completed pledge form to their United Way department coordinator by Friday, Nov. 15.

Brief informational sessions will be held for campus employees interested in asking questions or learning more about United Way on Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. and Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.  All sessions will be held at Morrill Hall in the Clark Room.  To RSVP for a session or for general information please contact Donna Knotek at 682-5952 or dknotek@unr.edu.

Sincerely,

Marc Johnson
