Component overview
The Block component offers an quick alternative to content blocks with some built in style options and simplified layout to link out to other resources/pages.
- Blocks should be used primarily on Section Fronts: Blocks are designed to be used on Section Fronts, but may be used on Section Detail, Profile Detail and Degree Detail page schemas.
- Blocks are used to link to other resources: They give you a simple alternative to content blocks with built in styles options.
- The component flexes to the size of the text used: Consider how much text you are using and how that will affect the overall size and appearance of the Block component.
- You may use different color overlays on the Banner component: The Block component allows for blue or dark gray color backgrounds. The light gray is the default background for non categorized Blocks and currently the only option for the categorized blocks. Think about how your color choices convey information and may look on different devices (e.g., mobile, desktop).
- Use H-tags properly: The Blocks component does allow for H2-h4 tag use. Double check your use of the h tags as you cannot skip any of the H tag sequence. If H tags are not necessary, select the p tag instead.
- Proper Link Text: Since the Block component are being used as links, be sure the titles have proper link text. Be aware if you are using the same link text in multiple places that are linking to different pages.
