Epicenter for Judicial Education

Leveraging more than 200 years of combined judicial education experience, the University of Nevada, Reno Judicial Studies Graduate Degree Program, The National Judicial College, and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges have prepared thousands of domestic and international judicial officers to serve their respective legal systems with deeper knowledge and even greater distinction. All located in Reno, Nevada, and creating the Epicenter for Judicial Education, these judicial partners all have the sole mission of improving the legal system through judicial education.

The Judicial Studies Graduate Degree Program grants both master (MJS) and doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in Judicial Studies to judges who seek to rise to the top of their profession. The National Judicial College focuses on the education of judges who hear criminal and civil cases. The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges focuses on training, technical assistance, research and policy development in the area of juvenile and family law. Together, the three partners of the judicial epicenter provide judges with evidence-based knowledge and practices to support justice in their own jurisdictions.

While the University of Nevada, Reno grants both master's (MJS) and doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in judicial studies, we award credits for some courses taken at our judicial partner organizations:

Although some courses are taught by the National Judicial College (NJC) and the National Council for Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ), the degree is conferred by the University of Nevada, Reno. Although the University accepts some transfer credits from NJC and NCJFCJ training, the main focus of the Master's and Ph.D. degrees is the academic courses taught by the University.
