Manager, Indigenous Relations

Summary

Emily Underwood serves as the Office Manager in the Office of Indigenous Relations. She is a current Ed.D. candidate studying Higher Education Leadership at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Emily received her Master's in Education from Wagner College in 2015 and her B.A. from the City University of New York, Hunter College in 2012.

Emily has taught in New York City and Hawaii Title I public schools and is a licensed K-12 Special Education teacher in Nevada. Before her current role, Emily served as the Workforce Development and Education Department Manager at the Children's Cabinet, where she worked with youth and community partners toward high school graduation, post-secondary goals, and workforce development for At-Promise youth.

Her experience also includes serving as the Director of Education for the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California. In this role, she worked with youth and families across multiple school districts to promote equity and access in education, increase high school graduation rates, and develop postsecondary pathways. Emily has extensive community outreach experience and partnerships with the Carson City, Douglas, and Washoe County School Districts and with Tribal communities, from her time as the Program Coordinator for Nevada Urban Indians.
