Assisting the community during emergencies

From participating in disaster drills to providing free training, the Community Emergency Response Team is dedicated to preparing our campus community to deal with and handle emergency situations.

Prepared, trained and ready to help the community

Following a major disaster, first responders who provide fire and medical services will not be able to meet the demand for these services. Factors such as number of victims, communication failures and road blockages will prevent people from accessing emergency services they have come to expect at a moment's notice through 911. People will have to rely on each other for help in order to meet their immediate life-saving and life-sustaining needs. Will you be prepared and trained to help those in your community?

The University of Nevada, Reno Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is one of several CERT teams in the Citizen Corps Program, under the direction of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

CERT meetings

Leadership meetings

The leadership team meets once a month to discuss current and future events, business meeting items and training for the University CERT.

Date: 1st Thursday of each month
Location: TBD (feel free to bring your lunch)
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Member business meetings

The member business meeting is held once a month to discuss CERT business.

Date: 2nd Thursday of each month
Location: University of Nevada, Reno Police Services office (Fitzgerald Student Services Building)
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Member training meetings

The University CERT meets once a month for training. Training for the month is given by a team leader or by an approved CERT trainer on topics ranging from wild fire training to CPR.

Date: 3rd Thursday of each month
