Apex Concerts presents the legendary Juilliard String Quartet, hailed by The Boston Globe as “the most important American quartet in history.” Founded in 1946, the ensemble continues to set the standard for chamber music through its deep engagement with the classics and its fearless commitment to new work.

This program spans centuries and styles, from Shostakovich’s searing String Quartet No. 7 and Bach’s Prelude in E-flat major (arranged by Michelle Barzel Ross) to Ross’s own Birds on the Moon (2024), written for the Juilliard String Quartet. The evening culminates in Beethoven’s transcendent String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. 132, one of the towering masterpieces of the repertoire.

With Grammy-winning recordings and acclaimed collaborations with artists including Itzhak Perlman, Emanuel Ax, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and soprano Tony Arnold, the Juilliard String Quartet remains a vital presence on international stages. Its members - Areta Zhulla, Leonard Fu, Molly Carr, and Astrid Schween - also serve on the faculty of the Juilliard School, where the ensemble continues its long-standing residency.
