Summary
Reed Chamberlin is Director of the School of Music and Bands, and Associate Professor of Music at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he conducts the Nevada Wind Ensemble and teaches graduate conducting. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the Eastman School of Music (2014), a Master of Music in Conducting from Youngstown State University (2007) and a Bachelor of Music Education from The Ohio State University (2003). Previous appointments include a professorship at Seton Hill University and six years of high school music teaching.
Internationally recognized through publications, presentations, and performances, Chamberlin was a Fennell Conducting Fellow and recipient of the Walter Hagen Prize in Conducting at Eastman. He has presented regularly at the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) National Conference, the Midwest Clinic, the International Society for the Research and Promotion of Wind Band Literature, the Nevada Music Educators Association and WASBE. His writings appear in the National Band Association Journal, TRIAD, CBDNA Journal and WASBE Journal, and Teaching Music Through Performance in Band. He currently serves as the president of the CBDNA Western Division.
Under his direction, the Nevada Wind Ensemble continues to gain widespread attention, most recently through its Navona Records LP releases Mythology Suite and Ave Maris Stella, which showcase the ensemble’s versatility and engagement with contemporary repertoire. Other significant releases include Celebrating 150 Years on the Land Grant Records Label, and the EP Bernstein/Hailstork.
