John Ostermiller, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Anthropology, was recently awarded a highly competitive dissertation grant from the Wenner Gren Foundation for Anthropological research.

His research focuses on Muslim migration in Japan, and he will begin 12 months of ethnographic field research in June 2023. 

Ostermiller is the first University of Nevada, Reno recipient of this prestigious grant.
