The Nevada Small Business Development Center (Nevada SBDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Shaundell Newsome as chair of its advisory board. Newsome succeeds Bonnie Drinkwater, who has completed her term after years of dedicated leadership and service to Nevada’s small business community.
Drinkwater’s tenure as chair helped guide the Nevada SBDC through periods of economic growth and challenge, reinforcing its mission to support entrepreneurs and small business owners statewide.
“Being the chair of the advisory board for the Nevada SBDC has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional career,” said Drinkwater. “Since I also work with small business people, I know the value that Nevada SBDC provides to those individuals. In fact, the documented results of the services of the Nevada SBDC show that it significantly helps business people create jobs, get loans and increase revenue and, as such, contributes to the economy of the State of Nevada in the best and worst times.”
Newsome brings more than a decade of experience on the Nevada SBDC Advisory Board and a deep commitment to advancing economic opportunity across the state. As chair, he will focus on building upon the strong foundation established by prior leadership while continuing to expand the reach and impact of Nevada SBDC programs.
“It’s definitely a blessing to continue to serve on the Nevada SBDC Advisory Board as I have for over a decade,” said Newsome. “I proudly accept the leadership role as chair to advance the vision of Bonnie Drinkwater, Sam Males, Winnie Dowling, current and former board members, to start and grow Nevada’s small businesses.”
As chairman, Shaundell aims to help growth-stage businesses connect with the Nevada SBDC. Having firsthand experience as an SBDC client himself, Shaundell knows the power of having an SBDC advisor and would like to see more Nevada businesses benefit from this statewide resource.
