The University of Nevada, Reno Veterans Alumni Chapter will host its annual ENGAGE event on Friday, April 17, featuring Medal of Honor recipient Staff Sgt. Clinton L. Romesha as the keynote speaker. The University of Nevada, Reno Veterans Alumni Chapter supports veterans transitioning from military service to academic and professional life through mentorship, leadership development and community partnerships.

ENGAGE is a veteran-focused leadership and awareness event that brings together students, alumni, veterans and community partners for an evening of discussion and reflection centered on life after military service. The event aims to encourage dialogue around transition, self-awareness and leadership while connecting participants with campus and community resources.

Romesha received the Medal of Honor in 2013 for his actions during the 2009 Battle of Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan, where he repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire to help organize defenses, lead counterattacks and assist wounded soldiers. He has since focused on honoring the experiences of the soldiers who served alongside him and emphasizing leadership rooted in accountability, trust and service to others.

Romesha is the author of the bestselling memoir “Red Platoon: A True Story of American Valor” and is featured in the Netflix docuseries “Medal of Honor.” His appearance at ENGAGE 2026 is presented in partnership with the Nevada Military Support Alliance.

The event will take place in the John Tulloch Business Building on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. A networking reception will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the main program at 6 p.m. The evening will include remarks from university and Veterans Alumni Chapter leadership, a student perspective, Romesha’s keynote address, an audience question-and-answer session and a book signing. Tickets for ENGAGE 2026 are available for purchase, with sponsorship opportunities also available.
