With the arrival of May, Jewish American Heritage Month is now underway, Chabad at the University of Nevada, Reno is marking the moment not only with celebration, but with meaningful growth, renewed energy and a bold step into the future of Jewish campus life.
On top of weekly Shabbat dinners, social events, classes and everything else that fills the Chabad calendar, this moment represents something deeper. Beyond the day-to-day programming that already brings Jewish students together, Chabad is entering a transformative new phase.
Following the recent acquisition of two properties near campus, renovations are now beginning with the goal of moving in soon. This milestone represents far more than a physical expansion. It marks the beginning of a permanent Jewish student center, a space dedicated to connection, growth and belonging for every Jewish student at the University.
For many students, Chabad has already become a home away from home. The new center will build on that foundation, creating an environment where students can gather for Shabbat dinners, holidays, classes and everyday moments of community in a space that is truly their own.
At the same time, and as part of the continued growth of student life on campus, Chabad is proud to launch its newly formed Executive Student Board. Led by Co-Presidents Eli Mann and Aron Jassinowsky, alongside Communications Chair Haydin Kurtzman, Treasurer Elizabeth Bymel and Holiday and Events Chair Brakha Brenner, this group of student leaders is focused on strengthening programming, outreach and the overall student experience.
These students are the driving force behind the vibrant, welcoming environment that Chabad has become, helping ensure that every Jewish student has a place to connect and feel at home.
Jewish American Heritage Month is a time to reflect on the contributions, resilience and identity of Jewish Americans throughout history. At the University, it is also a time to look ahead to the wonderful future.
With expanding programming, growing student engagement and exciting developments underway, Jewish life on campus is moving forward with strength, pride and purpose.
