Finding the right campus resource just got easier.

This fall semester, the University of Nevada, Reno's Division of Student Services launched Ask Wolfie, a new AI-powered virtual guide to campus resources, services, events and other areas of student life.

Developed in partnership with CollegeVine, Ask Wolfie serves as a one-stop resource, providing personalized support to students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students can use the tool for questions about housing, dining, events, club involvement and more.

“We are so excited to offer Ask Wolfie to better enable students to ask questions and get the information they need to navigate campus, learn what resources are available, and discover what’s happening on campus all in one tool,” said Heather Speed, vice president for the Division of Student Services at the University.

Whether students are navigating their first semester, preparing for graduation, or simply wondering where to find campus resources, Ask Wolfie offers immediate support through a simple and conversational experience. The AI agent is trained on University information and connects students to official sources from the University’s website.

Questions students can ask include:

  • How do I apply for housing?
  • How do I join a club?
  • Are there any student events happening on campus this week?
  • How do I join a fraternity or sorority?

Supporting students beyond the screen

Ask Wolfie complements the personalized support students receive from faculty and staff by helping them quickly find information and connect with the appropriate campus offices. For staff across Student Services, the goal is not to replace those personal connections, but to create more opportunities for meaningful conversations with students.

Maddy Wilson, assistant director for Clubs and Organizations with the Center for Student Engagement, sees an opportunity for Ask Wolfie to help answer some of the simple, repeat questions students have, giving staff the ability to focus on in-person conversations and individualized support that can make a difference in a student’s experience.

“Ask Wolfie can be a beneficial tool for both students and faculty, as the system allows for frequently asked questions to be addressed quickly, leaving more time for faculty and students to build connections,” Wilson said. “What would commonly be surface-level interactions that take away from the time needed to build positive student relationships can now be addressed by Ask Wolfie. I am excited for students to be able to more easily navigate University services and find the information they need to succeed!”

As students engage with Ask Wolfie, the Division of Student Services will continue refining the experience to better meet the evolving needs of the Wolf Pack community.
