It isn't every day that you can attend a book club with the author leading the meeting! But this June, you'll have the chance to experience an intimate book discussion with one of our very own northern Nevada writers.

The University Libraries is pleased to announce that it is hosting a book club-style event featuring popular author and Nevada Writers Hall of Fame inductee, Terri Farley. The free event will take place at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) on W. Moana Lane on Friday, June 21 at 6 p.m. Terri will be presenting and reading from her book, Wild at Heart, which takes readers into the hauntingly beautiful but endangered world of the mustang. You do not need to read the book in advance to attend the event, though we encourage you to spend some time taking in Terri's beautiful work which, in addition to her colorful storytelling, features National Geographic photographer Melissa Farlow's stunning photography.

Terri was inducted into the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame in 2017. Each November, book lovers and writers from around northern Nevada gather to celebrate the annual induction of a notable Silver State writer into the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame. Hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno University Libraries, the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame celebrates emerging writers with a strong connection to Nevada throughout the themes of their writing or residence in state.

University Libraries will present the 32nd Annual Nevada Writers Hall of Fame Thursday, Nov. 7. The event will take place at the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel located at One South, Lake Street. The event's general reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the formal program beginning at 7 p.m.

The Nevada Writers Hall of Fame was conceived by former Friends of the University Libraries President Marilyn Melton in 1988. She envisioned two purposes: an annual event honoring Nevada's finest writers, and a stimulus to encourage excellence among emerging writers in the Silver State. Honorees are selected based on their body of work, critical recognition, and a strong connection to Nevada through the themes of their writing or residence in the state.

To reserve your space at this free book club event, please email or call Robin Monteith at the University Libraries at robinmonteith@unr.edu or 775-682-5656. You do not have to be an OLLI member to attend this event. All are welcome.
